I often hear this question from others: how did you find the time to start reading again? For me, it was all about simplicity I began by bringing my books to the beach with me on weekends. You’d always catch me with my Kindle, sunscreen, and sunglasses, and it was during those sunny moments that I truly rekindled my love for reading.

At the beginning of every hobby, you might feel a sense of discipline as you try to incorporate it into your life, but over time, it can seamlessly blend into your daily routine. Consider starting with a book that truly sparks your interest and resonates with you. If you find your attention easily drifting, look for a topic that captivates you deeply. For some, this may be in the realms of fantasy or sci-fi, a gripping political thriller, or even a heartfelt romantic period drama. The key is to choose a genre that feels right for you and brings you joy.

After you have what you want to read, find the time to immerse yourself in it. It might sound easy, but I understand that in our hectic lives, carving out moments for ourselves can be quite the challenge. We live super busy lives filled with productivity, work, and projects, each demanding our attention and energy. Add to that the endless list of house chores that require our diligence, the nurturing of plants that bring life to our spaces, and the variety of creative hobbies that spark joy within us.

Amidst this whirlwind of responsibilities, we must also remember the importance of allocating time off for mental health, allowing ourselves to recharge and reflect. It’s crucial to recognize that fitting reading into our lives isn’t just about finding time; it’s about prioritizing our well-being and making space for the things that truly enrich us.

Choosing specific days of the week to turn off my phone and immerse myself in a good book before bed has been truly beneficial for me. I understand how difficult it can be to reduce screen time, but I’ve noticed that these little changes make a significant difference, helping me to not only lower my screen time but also sleep more soundly on those nights. I make it a point to carve out at least an hour for reading on the weekends, which feels like a nurturing gift to myself amidst our busy lives.

If it helps, consider creating a soothing playlist for your reading on Spotify or selecting one on YouTube to enhance your experience. I truly understand how distracting the world can be, so I suggest wearing headphones for a deeper focus, especially if you share your space with others. Pay attention to your breathing as you read, tune into your inner voice, and give yourself permission to disconnect from everything outside the pages.

Finding a serene spot whether it’s a quiet park, a captivating museum, or a cozy coffee shop can make a world of difference. Personally, I love taking my Kindle to the beach; I settle under my umbrella, listen to the gentle waves, open my book, and just unwind.
